Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a verification system, that is designed to prevent the so-called e-mail spoofing where an e-mail message is sent from one email address, but to look as being sent from a different one, frequently with the purpose to scam the recipient in some way. When SPF protection is activated for a domain name, a special record is generated for it in the Domain Name System and all of the DNS servers worldwide have it. The record features all the email servers that are allowed to send valid messages from an e-mail address part of the domain. When a message is sent, the first DNS server it goes to checks the SPF record and if the sending server is authorized, the message is forwarded to the target destination. When, however, the sending server is not present in the SPF record for the specified domain, the e-mail message won't be sent and it will be removed. Whenever you employ this solution, it will prevent third parties from sending spam which seem to have been sent by you.

SPF Protection in Cloud Hosting

When you host your domain names in a cloud hosting account on our end and we handle the email addresses for them, you will be able to activate SPF protection for them with several clicks in your Hepsia Control Panel. The service can be found in a separate section where you'll be able to see which domains are already secured. For the ones that are not, you'll be able to enable the SPF protection option and manage a variety of things in the process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are allowed to send messages from your e-mail addresses, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of these servers, and to set a rule that messages can be sent only when your domain names have our MX records. The aforementioned choice is the most secure one, and it can be used in the event that we take care of the e-mail addresses for your domains and you are not using a different email provider. The new records will propagate within one day and nobody will be able to forge the FROM field in an e-mail using your e-mail addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The Hepsia web hosting Control Panel, that comes as standard with all our Linux semi-dedicated hosting, offers you an extremely user-friendly interface to activate the SPF protection service for each domain name that you host in your new account. A couple of clicks in the Emails section of Hepsia will be enough for that then you will only have to enter the hostname and the IP address of the mail server which will be allowed to send messages from your e-mail addresses. In case the e-mail messages are handled by us and not by a different supplier, you are able to boost the security level even more and enable an option for the outgoing e-mails to be sent only if your domain names use our MX records. This option will give you more control and it will eliminate any chance of anyone forging your email addresses with the objective of spamming and / or scamming people. It is not applicable if just your website is hosted on our advanced cloud web hosting platform, while your email addresses are handled by another provider. If you aren't sure what options to pick, our technical support crew will help you 24/7.
